An IP address can be used to determine a user’s general location with a varying degree of accuracy from the general region in a country to the street of a city. An IP locator program allows you to see the location of any given IP address.
Find an IP LocationThere are many reasons that you may need to find an IP location. You may want to know the region where the majority of your website’s traffic is originating from, you may want to trace hackers or people who have sent malicious messages or made threatening posts. Knowing the location of your customer or user base is important information as well as safe guarding your online presence from abuse.
One popular topic especially for web masters interested in identifying their regional demographic is tracing the IP to location of their website users. IP addresses follow a format that correspond with the region and country of the internet service provider’s location so it is easy to approximate the servers location, but harder to pin point the exact location of the users individual computer.
IP Locate With ASP.NETBeing able to locate an IP address is useful in many situations such as determining the location of a website’s visitors to tracking down the origination of malicious emails. It is easy to find the general region where an IP address originates but pinpointing the exact location of a user’s computer is not always possible. Most online IP locate programs will show you on a map where the internet service provider for any given IP address is located and it is usually within 50 miles or so of the user who’s computer was assigned the IP address.
