Raymond faced death countless times, and shares some challenging words for the church after feeling rejected by it. Raymond Broadwater was the son of a preacher who was (in his words) “kicked to the curb” after his father no longer served in their church. He became a magician who stole money from people to feed his drug addiction. He hated God with a passion. He was rejected by almost every church in which he visited. He finally ended up in jail, feeling more at home with killers than he did with Christians. Raymond challenged God to accept him as he was, a self-professed “bad man,” and God accepted the challenge.
